Skin Decoded (skindecoded.net) is a free skincare routine builder run by Marie, its founder. This page explains what data the site handles, in plain language. The short version: almost everything happens in your browser, we store as little as possible, and we never sell your data.
Your quiz answers (skin type, concerns, preferences) are processed in your browser to build your routine. They are saved on your own device (browser storage) so the site can remember your routine, and they never leave your device unless you choose to email yourself the routine or use the chat.
If you enter your email address to receive your routine, we store that address together with your routine so we can send it to you, and we may send you occasional skincare emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Photos you upload are sent securely to OpenAI's vision service to identify the products in them, then discarded. We do not store your photos, and neither we nor OpenAI use them to train AI models. Please photograph your products, not yourself.
If you use Skin Check, your photo is sent securely to OpenAI's vision service, analysed in memory, and immediately discarded. We never store your photo, it never touches a database, and neither we nor OpenAI use it to train AI models. Only the resulting reading (skin type, visible concerns) is kept, and only in your own browser so it can pre-fill the routine quiz. Skin Check is a cosmetic reading of what is visible in a photo, not a medical assessment, and it is for adults only — it will decline photos of children.
Messages you send to the chat are processed by OpenAI to generate a reply. If you completed the quiz, your skin profile (from your device) is included so answers can be personalised. Chat history lives in your browser, not on our servers, and is not used to train AI models.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages visited, quiz completions, link clicks). This uses cookies. We do not run ads and we do not build advertising profiles.
We look up your approximate country from your connection so we can show product links for the store that ships to you (for example Amazon.ae for the UAE). We do not store your IP address.
